Vietnam’s design landscape is transforming with the exciting launch of the EU-Vietnam Sustainable Design Awards (EVSDA)! This innovative initiative brings together architects, designers, artists, and engineers to reimagine how sustainable practices can enhance our everyday Vietnamese lifestyle. 🎨
The project features four creative pillars: Architecture, Product Design, Communication Design, and Innovation – all focused on blending environmental responsibility with beautiful, practical solutions that “explore solutions for everyday matters.” Throughout 2024-2025, a series of workshops in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi will connect Vietnamese creators with European experts to exchange sustainable design approaches.
What makes this initiative particularly exciting is its focus on local materials and techniques! The second workshop brought together product designers to collaborate with traditional Vietnamese artisans specializing in lacquer and bamboo weaving, exploring how ancient crafts can be reimagined for modern sustainable design. Even recycled fabrics and plastics from Vietnamese companies are being incorporated into these creative explorations.
As Vietnam continues implementing its National Green Growth Strategy with the vision toward 2050, initiatives like EVSDA show how environmental protection can be woven into our cultural identity. When sustainability becomes beautiful and practical, it transforms from obligation to inspiration!
